Paralegal (PERM/I-140)

Jewell Stewart & Pratt PC, a nationally-recognized San Francisco (FiDi) business immigration law firm, has an opening for a full-time Paralegal on the PERM/I-140 team. You would work on a broad range of immigration-related applications and petitions.   • Prepare immigration applications and petitions for submission to U.S. government agencies.

  • Correspond and/or meet with clients to gather documents and information and to and to answer questions regarding their visa processes.

  • Use case management system/database, various firm systems, and project management skills to monitor case milestones, follow up with clients, and meet both legal and client-relations deadlines.

  • Organize and maintain case documents, databases, files, and subject-matter resources following the firm’s standard procedures.  

  • Exercise meticulous attention to detail to produce error-free forms, correspondence, and related legal work product.

  • Use research skills, broad general knowledge, and superior written communication skills to draft applications and petitions.

  • Apply knowledge of USCIS filing requirements and courier processes to properly assemble applications and petitions and ensure correct and timely filings.

  • Other tasks as required to meet client and firm needs.

What we are looking for

  • 0-10 years of experience in business immigration law, PERM / I-140 experience preferred.

  • Ability to work at a fast pace and prioritize your workload.

  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills.

  • Strong writing; ability to communicate effectively and precisely.

  • Incisive analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Intermediate MS Office skills: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and good judgment.

  • Desire to learn and grow in the field of immigration law.
